Jan. 31, 2013
USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force women's soccer team placed 10 student-athletes on the Mountain West Conference Academic All-Conference Team for the Fall 2012 sports. Senior Eryn Avjian led the way with her fourth academic all-conference honor.
The 10 academic all-conference honorees were the most by the women's soccer program since the 2006 team had 11. Avjian became just the seventh Falcon to earn academic all-conference for all four season in the Mountain West era.
Junior Kelly Stambaugh and sophomores McKenna Fox, Tory Gullo and Felicia Sturgeon earned their second academic all-conference honors. Earning honors for the first time were senior Kim Koeppen, junior Kaleigh Moses and freshmen Rebecca Beasley, Katie Case and Sarah Falvey.
A league-record 409 student-athletes were named to the fall 2012 Academic All-Mountain West team. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. The mark surpasses the previous Conference record of 396 fall semester honorees, set during the 2010-11 academic year.
To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.
Air Force had 38 student-athletes garner academic all-conference honors during the fall.
