Air Force Women's Soccer Places Eight On Academic All-Conference Team

    USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force women's soccer team placed eight student-athletes on the Mountain West Conference Academic All-Conference Team for the Fall 2011 sports. A trio of juniors led the way for the Falcons with their third consecutive academic all-conference honors.

    Seniors Bridgett Murphy and Krystin Shanklin earned their fourth academic all-conference honor. Sophomore Eryn Avjian earned her third academic all-conference honor. Sophomore Kelly Stambaugh and freshmen McKenna Fox, Tory Gullo, McKenna Kimball and Felicia Sturgeon earned their first academic all-conference honor.

    A total of 308 student-athletes were named to the fall 2011 Academic All-Mountain West team. Fall sports include men's and women's cross country, football, women's soccer and women's volleyball. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team.

    Air Force had 36 student-athletes garner academic all-conference honors during the fall.
