Air Force women’s soccer (7-7-3, 4-3-3 MW) dropped a 3-1 contest at San José State (11-5-1, 8-1-1 MW) in Mountain West action on Sunday afternoon at the San José State soccer complex. Sophomore Bree Bezdek scored Air Force’s goal.
After playing scoreless soccer for the first 58 minutes, four goals were scored in a span of 18 minutes, including three in five minutes.
San José State scored the first goal of the game at the 58:02 mark. Dairriel Franklin scored off a pass from Yaritza Arista.
Air Force countered minutes later, as Bezdek scored at the 61:23 mark. Bezdek netted her first goal of the season off a pass from sophomore Sydney Rickert.
Just over a minute later, at 62:39, Jamilecxth Becerra scored the go-ahead goal for the Spartans off a pass from Kristen Amarikwa. Becerra scored a second goal at 75:03 off a pass from Lauloa Amanoni to make it a 3-1 score.
Air Force had 10 shots on the day. Senior Angela Karamanos led the Falcons with three shot attempts. Junior Jennifer Hiddink recorded seven saves in goal.
The Falcons return to action Thursday, with its regular-season finale hosting Colorado College. Kickoff is slated for 6 pm MT at Cadet Soccer Stadium. The Falcons look to qualify for the MW Championship in the CC match. The top six teams in conference play make the MW Championships.
