Air Force Drops 4-1 Match at New Mexico

    ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - The Air Force women's soccer dropped a 4-1 match at New Mexico Sunday afternoon at the UNM Soccer Complex. The loss dropped the Falcons to 6-7-3, 1-2 and improved the Lobos to 8-4-4, 2-0-2.

    New Mexico erupted for four first-half goals, including three in the first 12 minutes of play. Freshman McKenna Fox scored the Falcons lone goal of the match in the 57th minute.

    Jennifer Williams scored the first goal for the Lobos at the 8:14 mark. Just 19 seconds later, Stephanie Rowe scored to put UNM ahead 2-0. Williams scored her second goal of the match in the 12th minute to make it a 3-0 game. Ashley Espinoza scored the fourth goal for New Mexico in the 44th minute.

    Fox scored her seventh goal of the season for the Falcons in the 57th minute. The seven goals are the most by a Falcon since Beth Boyer scored nine goals in 2001.

    Kelly Stambaugh took the loss at goalkeeper for AFA, with two saves in 45 minutes of play. Hannah Schwartz played the second-half in goal for the Falcons and did not allow a goal while recording four saves.

    Air Force returns to action this Friday, Oct. 21, hosting UNLV.
