USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Air Force women's soccer fell to Nevada, 1-0, Sunday morning at the Cadet Soccer Stadium. The loss dropped the Falcons to 5-6-3, 0-4, while the Wolfpack improved to 6-8-1, 2-2.
The lone score of the match came in the 50th minute on a goal by Nevada's Kelly Gould. Off a corner kick play, the Wolfpack used three headers, by Alyissa Deronde, Chrisalyn Fonte and finally Gould, to score. Gould had the final header that scored from 10 yards out.
It was Air Force's third heartbreaking 1-0 conference game loss at home.
The Falcons dominated offensively, holding a 17-5 shots advantage, including 8-2 on goal. Senior Stephanie Patterson led the team with seven shots.
The Falcons mounted a furious late-game rally and almost tied the game in the 87th minute, but sophomore Felicia Sturgeon's 25 yard shot attempt hit the crossbar and caromed away.
Air Force returns to action Friday, Oct. 19, at New Mexico.
