Falcons Fall 3-1 At TCU

    FORT WORTH, Texas - The Air Force women's soccer team opened Mountain West Conference play with a 3-1 loss to TCU at Garvey Rosenthal-Stadium Saturday night. The loss drops the Falcons to 2-7-2, 0-1-0 and improves the Horned Frogs to 6-6-0, 1-0-0.

    The match started off in a flurry as three goals were scored in the first eight minutes and 33 seconds. TCU struck first as Michelle Nguyen scored at the 4:58 mark. Air Force scored just six seconds later, at the 5:04 mark, as Corbin Sanford scored for the Falcons off a penalty kick. The Frogs made it a 2-1 game just three and a half minutes later as Lizzy Karoly scored.

    Nguyen scored her second goal of the match in the 62nd minute off a penalt kick for an insurance goal for TCU.

    Air Force had 14 shots in the match, led by Sanford and Ashley Collins, whom both had four shots. Ashlee Curtis recorded six saves in the loss for the Falcons.

    The Falcons return to action Tuesday, Oct. 9, hosting Northern Colorado in a makeup game of a match that was postponed due to weather on Sept. 5.
