Air Force Opens MW Play With 2-1 Overtime Win at Colorado State

    FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Air Force women's soccer opened Mountain West play with a 2-1 overtime win at Colorado State Friday night at the Fort Collins Soccer Club. The Falcons improve to 2-6-1, 1-0 on the season and dropped the Rams to 1-5-2, 0-1.

    Freshman Kristina O'Sullivan scored the game winner in the 96th minute. O'Sullivan scored on a header off a free kick by senior Kaleigh Moses. The win snapped a three-game losing streak and gave the Falcons its first conference win since 2011.

    Air Force scored the first goal of the match in the 50th minute from sophomore Christy Cooper. It was Cooper's first-career goal, which came from 30 yards out.

    Colorado State tied the match up with a goal in the 63rd minute. Erika Bratschun scored the goal with Catherine Ruder assisting.

    Air Force held a 10-6 advantage in shots and 7-1 advantage in corner kicks. Senior Kelly Stambaugh had three saves in the win at goalkeeper.

    Air Force returns to action Friday, Oct. 4, at Utah State. Kickoff is 1 p.m.
