Air Force Downed By UTEP, 3-1, At Border Shootout

EL PASO, Texas - The Air Force women's soccer team dropped a 3-1 match to UTEP Friday night at the Border Shootout Friday night at University Field. The loss drops the Falcons to 2-6 on the season while the Miners improved to 6-2. Chelsea Winbush scored in the 10th minute off a pass from Tameka Sumter for the first goal of the match. UTEP extended its lead to 2-0 with a goal in the 22nd minute by Brittany Vaca. Air Force got on the scoreboard in the 48th minute as freshman Bridgett Murphy scored off a corner kick from senior Roni Yadlin. The goal was Murphy's team-leading third of the season. The Miners put the game away with a goal in the 53rd minute as Melissa Desilets scored off a pass from Cara Nordin. Ashlee Curtis started in goal for the Falcons logging 66 minutes. Erin Wallace replaced Curtis in the second period and played the remaining 24 minutes. Curtis had two saves and Wallace one. The Falcons return to action Sunday morning, Sept. 21, taking on Grambling State in the final day of action at the Border Shootout
