CULLOWHEE, N.C. - Air Force women's soccer team continues its hot play, being crowned the Catamount Classic Champions with a 1-0 win over Mercer Sunday afternoon at the Catamount Athletic Complex. The win--their third in a row--improves the Falcons to 5-2-1 and drops Mercer to 1-5-1.

Less than halfway through the season, Air Force has its most wins in a season since winning seven games in 2003. Their back-to-back road wins are the most road wins in a season since 2002.

Sophomore forward Stephanie Patterson scored the lone goal of the match in the 25th minute of play. Freshman goalkeeper Kelly Stambaugh notched her third shutout of the season, corralling four saves in the process.

Air Force dominated shots in the game, 12-6, doubling Mercer's total. Junior Bridgett Murphy had five shots, three on goal to lead the Falcons.

The Falcons return to action next Friday, Sept. 17, at Northern Arizona.
