BOULDER - Air Force women's soccer dropped a 2-0 contest against Northern Colorado Sunday in a neutral-site game at Prentup Field in Boulder. The match was part of a Colorado Cup tripleheader, featuring all six Div. I women's soccer programs in the state of Colorado.
Northern Colorado scored both goals early, striking at the six and 16 minute marks. The Falcons could not find the back of the net despite a 7-6 advantage in shots attempted.
Brooke Baden scored the first goal of the match at the 6:05 mark and Maddie Roberts netted the second score at the 16:26 mark for the Bears.
In addition to the seven shots, the Falcons held a 4-3 advantage in shots on goal. Junior Taylor Cobb led Air Force with three shots, two on goal. Senior Angela Karamanos and sophomore Bree Bezdek added shots on goal as well.
Junior Jennifer Hiddink took the loss in goal. Hiddink had one save on the day.
The Falcons had 24 players see action in the match. Freshmen Jessica Groen and Sarah Masinter made their collegiate debuts for Air Force.
The Falcons return to action next weekend, Aug. 25-27, taking part in the Montana Cup in Missoula, Mont. The Falcons face tournament host Montana on Friday and Eastern Washington on Sunday.
