Capt. Jami Burgener enters his second full season with the Falcon soccer program. A 1999 USAFA graduate with a major in economics, Burgener came back to the Academy in the fall of 2002. After graduating from the Academy, Burgener's first assignment was at Los Angeles Air Force Base working as a cost analyst on communication satellites from 1999-02. While in Los Angeles, he earned a joint service commendation medal. Originally from Boulder, Colo., Burgener was a four-year letterman as a stopper on the Falcon soccer team. A second-team all-Western Athletic Conference selection in 1998, he was named the team most valuable player as a senior and the team's most inspirational player as a junior. Burgener played a key role in one of the most successful eras of Air Force soccer. As a sophomore in 1996, the Falcons finished 14-3-3 overall. In 1997, the team was 13-5 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. Burgener continued his soccer career after graduating from the Academy by competing on the all-Air Force team. Burgener was the captain of the all-Air Force team in 2001 and was selected for the all-armed services team. Burgener was the captain of the all-armed services team that beat Canada and Barbados to qualify for the military world championships in Egypt. He was also the captain of the team at the world championships. |
