USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team will host the first-ever Blue and Silver Intrasquad Meet on Saturday, Dec. 8, at 2 p.m., in the Cadet West Gym. The exhibition event will feature head coach Doug Day's entire 2008 roster, competing against one another in a split-squad format.
Junior Abigail Rogers (Pittsburgh, Pa.) will serve as the backbone on the Blue Team. She will be one of three all-around competitors on the squad. Sophomores Michelle Denise (Kennewick, Wash.) and Kayla Kincade (Lakewood, Colo.) will also take part in all four events. The scrimmage will mark the debut of three freshmen, including Brittany Dutton (Tucker, Ga.), Annette Ehrman (Houston, Texas) and Ashley Green (Porterville, Calif.) Dutton will compete for the Blue Team on the balance beam and floor exercise, while Ehrman (vault, balance beam and floor exercise) and Green (vault, uneven bars, and balance beam) will each compete in three events.
The Silver Team will be headlined by the Falcons' two seniors. Katie Donnell (Santa Fe, N.M.) will compete in the all-around, while classmate Kelly Lewis (Plano, Texas) will participate on the vault and floor exercise. Like Donnell, junior Mary Barrett (Copperas Cove, Texas) and freshman Lisa Wong (Silver Springs, Md.) will compete in the four-event all-around. Sophomore Stephanie Frick (Phoenix, Ariz.) will compete on the vault, balance beam and floor exercise, while classmate Aftan Boudreaux (New Orleans, La.) will participate on the uneven bars and floor exercise. Freshman Holland Davis (Dadeville, Ala.) will round out the Silver Team as an event specialist on the balance beam.
Air Force opens the regular season against Centenary on Jan. 18 - the first of seven home competitions during the 2008 season.
