USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - Backed by four home meets in the newly renovated Cadet West Gym, the Air Force women's gymnastics team and head coach Doug Day announced the 2015 schedule this afternoon. The Falcons' upcoming slate features 10 regular-season competitions and three additional meets during the championship season.
Air Force opens the 2015 campaign on Jan. 9, when it travels to Logan, Utah, to take on Utah State. The Falcons debut at Cadet West Gym on Jan. 24, hosting the start of a home-and-home series with conference opponent, Seattle Pacific. Air Force closes out the first month of the season on Jan. 30 in Auburn, Ala., facing a Tigers' team that finished last season with a #20 ranking.
The Falcons host Texas Woman's University (Feb. 7) and Cortland State (Feb. 14) in back-to-back weeks, before hitting the road for contests at Illinois State (Feb. 21 in Normal, Ill.) and Seattle Pacific (Feb. 27 in Seattle, Wash.).
Air Force will face a pair of top-25 teams to open the month of March, as it travels to Denver for a tri-meet with the Pioneers (18th in 2013) and Ohio State (23rd in 2013) on March 7. The Falcons close out its home season two nights later (March 9) during their own triangular, which includes Denver and conference foe, Alaska. Air Force wraps up the regular season on March 13 during a dual meet at Arizona State (Tempe, Ariz.).
The championship season begins for Air Force on March 21, when it travels to Anchorage, Alaska, for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships. The Falcons will also compete at the NCAA Regional Championships (site TBA) on April 4, before heading to Philadelphia, Pa., for the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships on April 10-12. The 2015 collegiate season comes to a close at the NCAA National Championships on April 17-19 in Fort Worth, Texas.
