COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - Air Force freshman gymnast Ryann Anderson received Mountain West Scholar-Athlete distinction, the conference office recently announced. Anderson, a native of Charlotte, N.C., is the fifth Academy gymnast to earn this honor.

During her first year at the Academy, Anderson recorded a cumulative GPA of 3.79 (major undeclared). She competed in nine team competitions for the Falcons, including eight as a member of the vault rotation. She tallied career-best marks of 9.625 on that event twice during her rookie campaign (vs. Denver; at MPSF Championships). She also competed once on the uneven bars (9.100, vs. Lindenwood) and once on the floor exercise (9.200, at Texas Woman's University).

Anderson joins former Falcons Diane Godar (2004), Katie Donnell (2005), Abbey Rogers (2007-08-09) and Erin Brown (2010)

A conference-record 623 student-athletes were named Mountain West Scholar-Athletes for the 2012-13 academic year, including 57 from the Academy. To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least two academic terms at the members institution, while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.5 or better and competing in varsity competition of an NCAA-sponsored sport.
