Three Falcons Earn USAG All-America Accolades

April 22, 2008

SHREVEPORT, La. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team had three of its members earn USAG All-America honors at the conclusion of the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships in Shreveport, La. Sophomores Michelle Denise and Kayla Kincade were selected to the USAG All-America first-team, while freshman Brittany Dutton picked up a pair of honors on the second-team.

"Our team's overall performance this year far exceeded my expectations," head coach Doug Day said. "To finish off this season with four (USAG) All-America citations feels great. Hopefully, we can take this year's momentum and carry it over to next year with our new incoming freshman and reach even higher team and individual accolades. This has been one of my favorite teams to coach in 33 years."

Denise and Kincade were awarded first-team distinction after qualifying for the individual event finals. In Saturday's competition, Denise scored a 9.575 to tie for ninth on the uneven bars, while Kincade tied for 11th on the balance beam with a score of 8.700.

Dutton claimed second-team honors on the all-around and on the floor exercise. She tied for sixth in the all-around (37.725) and floor exercise (career-best 9.725) during Thursday's preliminary sessions - one spot of advancing to the finals.
