Falcons Set to Compete at USAG Championships

    The Air Force women's gymnastics team will conclude the 2009 campaign this weekend with the annual USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships in New Haven, Conn. The three-day meet, held at Moore Fieldhouse on the campus of Southern Connecticut State, will feature the top eight teams in the USAG division, as well as several individual gymnasts.

    HOW IT WORKS
    The Falcons open the weekend on Thursday (April 9) with the national preliminaries. Four teams will compete in easy session, with the top two advancing to Friday's team finals. The top individuals from Thursday night will advance to the individual event finals on Saturday.

    HISTORY 101
    The Falcons finished fourth in the opening session at the 2008 USAG Championships. Three current Falcons recorded USAG All-America honors at least year's meet, including Michelle Denise, Kayla Kincade and Brittany Dutton.

    AIR FORCE DUO NAMED ACADEMIC ALL-CONFERENCE Abbey Rogers and sophomore Lisa Wong were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic Team, the league announced on April 8.

    DID YOU KNOW?
    Abbey Rogers became just the third Air Force gymnast to earn academic all-conference honors in every year of eligibility (sophomores and higher). Rogers joins Diane Godar (2003-04-05) and Katie Donnell (2006-07-08) as the program's three-time honors.

    REGIONAL ROUNDUP
    Freshman Jenna Dudley and senior Abbey Rogers placed 17th and 19th, respectively, in the all-around at the NCAA Midwest Regional Championships on April 4. Dudley tallied a score of 38.500, while Rogers posted a total of 37.875.
