Falcons Finish Fifth At NCAA Regionals
April 8, 2002 DENVER, Colo.- The Air Force women's gymnastics team finished fifth at the 2002 NCAA North Central Region Championships with a team score of 193.775. Stanford tied with Georgia for first with a score of 196.125, followed by Denver (196.000) and Missouri (195.000). Utah State finished sixth with score of 193.400. C2C (Jr.) Allison Todd finished sixth in the all-around with a 39.050, followed by C1C (Sr.) Bethany Stott who took ninth (38.800), C2C Kimberly Broughton who finished 12th (38.375) and Jennifer Dougherty who finished 14th (37.950). Broughton, Dougherty, Stott and Todd tied for 12th on floor with a score of 9.825. Stott tied for seventh on beam with a 9.825. Todd finished 10th on bars with a 9.825, followed by Broughton who tied for 12th with a 9.800.
The Falcons missed qualifying as a team for nationals, which will be held April 18-20 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. Air Force will be in action at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate Championships April 11 in Springfield, MA. The Falcons finished thier 2001 season with its first-ever team title in the finals of the USAG championships. Air Force had 11 individual USAG Collegiate All-Americans including the national beam champion, Bethany Stott. The women's team competition begins Thursday at 5:30 with the women's team final Friday afternoon at 1:30. The men's team/club finals follow Friday evening at 7 and the men's and women's individual finals will be held Saturday at 7 p.m.
