Abbey Rogers Earns Falcons' First-Ever MPSF Gymnast of the Year Award
April 1, 2008
WOODLAND, Calif. - Junior Abigail Rogers was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Co-Gymnast of the Year, the league commissioner announced today (April 1). It is the first-ever such honor for the Falcons' women's gymnastics program. In addition, Rogers was one of five Falcons to earn all-conference accolades. Rogers currently leads the team on every event, while guiding the Falcons to some of their top team scores in nearly three years. A two-time MPSF Gymnast of the Week, Rogers has accounted for 13 first-place finishes on the year. She holds the top Regional Qualifying Scores in the MPSF on the floor exercise and in the all-around. She shared the Gymnast of the Year award with senior Michelle Kulovitz of UC-Davis. In addition to her yearly award, Rogers earned all-MPSF accolades in the all-around, balance beam and floor exercise. She was one of three athletes to claim conference honors in the all-around, joining sophomore Michelle Denise and freshman Brittany Dutton. Rogers and Dutton joined sophomore Kayla Kincade on the balance beam all-MPSF list, while Rogers and Denise earned honors on the floor exercise. Denise was the lone Falcon to earn all-league honors on the uneven bars, while senior Kelly Lewis represented the squad on the vault. Each MPSF team is represented by their top gymnast in each event, followed by the student-athletes with next four highest RQS averages in the conference.
