Linnaea Hance Selected to NCAA Regional Championships

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Air Force sophomore gymnast Linnaea Hance was selected to compete in the all-around at the NCAA Women's Gymnastics Regional Championships, the NCAA office announced this afternoon (March 26). Hance will make her first appearance at the regional meet, after serving as an alternate last year.

    The Salt Lake City Regional will take place at 6 p.m., on Saturday, April 7, at the Huntsman Center in Salt Lake City, Utah.

    With an all-around regional qualifying average of 38.775, Hance is ranked 19th in the North Central Region. The sophomore, who will compete with the Arizona State squad during the regional meet, will open on the balance beam, before rotating to a bye, floor exercise, vault, bye, uneven bars.

    Six teams, five all-around competitors who are not on a qualifying team and one individual event specialist per event were named to each of the six host sites (Auburn, Ala., Champaign, Ill., Fayetteville, Ark., Raleigh, N.C., Salt Lake City, Utah, and Seattle, Wash.).

    The six full squads scheduled to compete at the Salt Lake City Regional are No. 5 Nebraska, No. 8 Utah, No. 17 Minnesota, No. 24 Iowa State, No. 28 Arizona State and No. 35 San Jose State. Individual athletes, including the remaining all-around competitors, event specialists and alternates, are from BYU, Utah State and Southern Utah.

    Classmate Katie Hawthorne was selected as the alternate for the all-around, behind a RQS of 38.500.
