WOODLAND, Calif. - Air Force sophomore Linnaea Hance was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced today (March 6). It is the second such award of her career and the first this season.
The sophomore from Naperville, Ill., led Air Force to its second-highest total of the six-year Doug Day era, a 193.025 during a tri-meet with 22nd-ranked Denver and Western Michigan on Monday, March 5. She tallied three career bests, tying for third on the balance beam (9.800), finishing third in the all-around (38.775) and hitting a 9.775 on the floor exercise.
She also added a second-place performance on the uneven bars (9.775) and all-around (38.125) during the Falcons' March 2 meet with conference opponent Seattle Pacific, while finishing fourth on the floor exercise (9.700).
Hance, who shared the March 6 honor with Seattle Pacific's Samantha Taylor, is the third Air Force gymnast to earn the weekly gymnast honor this year. She joins classmate Katie Hawthorne (Feb. 14) and freshman Jessica Wallander (Feb. 21).
The Falcons return to action this Saturday (March 10), when they travel to Ypsilanti, Mich., for the Eagle Invitational against Eastern Michigan, Northern Illinois and Temple.
