WOODLAND, Calif. - Senior Abbey Rogers claimed her third Gymnast of the Week award of the season from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation, the league office announced this afternoon (March 3). It is the sixth career honor for Rogers, who also received recognition this season on Jan. 13 and Feb. 3.
Backed by Rogers' three weekly awards, Air Force has now accounted for four of the eight awards handed out on the season. Sophomore Brittany Dutton was named the Gymnast of the Week on Feb. 17.
The senior captain paced the Falcons' to a perfect 3-0 weekend at the Wisconsin-La Crosse Triangular (Feb. 27) and at Hamline (March 1).
At the tri-meet, Rogers won the balance beam (9.700) and floor exercise (9.650), while placing second and third, respectively, on the vault (9.750) and uneven bars (9.175). Those scores contributed to her winning total of 38.275 in the all-around.
Rogers won the vault at Hamline two days later with a score of 9.625, easily distancing herself from the rest of the competition. She also picked up a trio of runner-up finishes on the uneven bars (9.550), floor exercise (9.600) and all-around (37.875).
The Falcons are off from competition until Saturday, March 14, when they travel to Cape Girardeau, Mo., to take on Southeast Missouri State.
