Head Coach Lisa Woody Comments on the NC State Women's Gymnastics Meet
I would like to start this up-date to recognize the talents, efforts and the level of dedication of my two assistant coaches: Holly Saunders and 2d Lt. Parker Marshall. Without them--we would not have the success nor the many laughs and good times that these two individuals bring to our team each and every day. Along with the team members, the fans and the families of the athletes, I want Holly and Parker to know that we all really appreciate the hard work they give every single day!!
The Air Force women's gymnastics team traveled to Raleigh, North Carolina this past weekend...and what a fabulous weekend it was!! The tri-meet was: AFA, North Carolina State and Univ. of North Carolina.
We scored our second highest team total for the season!! 193.350...but it was our BEST overall performance to date!!!
The AFA Ladybirds are on a mission to make it to the NCAA Regionals as a TEAM this year---and with the way they've been performing---this is a goal that is definitely within our reach!
We had the same rotation as we did the previous week---which the team really enjoyed and were very successful at the TWU meet. Bars-beam-floor-vault.
Unfortunately, we were not only first up on bars (judges tend to score slightly lower for the first team up)...but since Radford did not compete as previously scheduled...there wasn't another team to start beam off---so we were the first team on that event too and had slightly lower than usual scores as well...but what are ya gonna do?? We HIT and we're so excited!!
Bars: We HIT five out of six routines...team score on this event: 47.650 (I figure that it should have been about .5 to .7 higher) with C3C (So.) Kim Broughton and C3C Allison Todd each turning in excellent performances scoring 9.675 and 9.625 respectively.
Beam: We HIT five out of six routines...team score on this event: 48.300 (once again...I figure that it should have been about .5 to .7 higher)
