Feb. 17, 2009

WOODLAND, Calif. - Air Force sophomore gymnast Brittany Dutton (Tucker, Ga.) was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon (Feb. 17). It is the first career award for Dutton and the third of the season for the Air Force women's gymnastics team.

Dutton collected three top-10 finishes at the Fox Run Invitational on Saturday, Feb. 14. Contributing to a third-place finish in the all-around (37.850), Dutton matched her career-best score on the floor exercise to finish fifth with a score of 9.775. She also paced the Falcons on the balance beam, tallying a season-high score of 9.525 to place ninth.

This marks the third time in six weeks that an Air Force gymnast has earned the conference's weekly honor. Dutton joins senior Abbey Rogers (Jan. 13, Feb. 3) as the Falcons' award winners.

Dutton and the Falcons return to the Academy this Thursday (Feb. 19) when they host defending USAG champion, Texas Woman's University. Action is slated to begin at 6 p.m., in the Cadet West Gym.
