Meet Notes 06: Air Force vs UC Davis Get Acrobat Reader

The Air Force women’s gymnastics team continues its three-week homestand this Saturday (Feb. 17), when it hosts conference-leading UC Davis at 6:00 p.m. (MT) during its annual Pink Meet at the Cadet West Gym. Admission is free to all of the Falcons’ regular-season gymnastics meets.

OPPONENT QUICK HITS
UC Davis currently leads the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation – and is ranked 45th in the NCAA – with a season average of 194.280. The Aggies are ranked among the league’s top two on all four events, including a MPSF-best average of 48.730 on the balance beam – a mark that is ranked 28th in the nation. UC Davis currently boasts three of the top-five all-arounders in the conference, including Alexis Brown, who leads the league with a 39.180 average. Brown is also ranked first on the balance beam (9.840) and holds top-two rankings on the uneven bars (9.810) and floor exercise (9.820).

AIR FORCE IN THE RANKINGS
The Falcons are currently ranked 54th in the NCAA and third in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation with an average of 193.050. Air Force currently leads the MPSF on the uneven bars with a 48.490 average, while also holding a top-three ranking on the floor exercise (third, 48.365). Individually, Cam Barber and Anna Salamone are ranked among the league’s top three on the balance beam (second, 9.775) and uneven bars (third, 9.795), respectively, while Salamone (vault, 9.735), Jessica Kirkpatrick (uneven bars, 9.731) and Tyler Davis (floor exercise, 9.767) are ranked sixth in their respective events.

Air Force has captured seven weekly awards from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation during the first six weeks of the season. The Falcons list of honorees includes Tyler Davis (Jan. 9 Freshman of the Week), Jessica Kirkpatrick (Jan. 9 Specialist of the Week), Mariana Murphy (Jan. 9 Gymnast of the Week), Anna Salamone (Jan. 16 Specialist, Jan. 30 Specialist), Emily Luers (Feb. 6 Specialist) and Analise Howard (Feb. 13 Specialist).

WHAT’S AHEAD FOR THE FALCONS
Air Force concludes its three-week homestand next weekend, when it hosts New Hampshire and Temple for its Senior Night Celebration at 6:00 p.m., on Saturday, Feb. 24.
