WOODLAND, Calif. - Air Force senior gymnast Linnaea Hance was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced on Tuesday, Feb. 4. It is the fourth career honor for the Falcons' team captain.
Hance scored a season-high 39.025 in the all-around to help the Falcons to their highest overall score of the season (193.025) during a dual meet with 10th-ranked Auburn on Feb. 8. She accounted for season-best scores on the vault (9.725), uneven bars (9.800) and floor exercise (9.775), while leading the team on the uneven bars (fifth) and balance beam (9.725, fourth). Hance helped Air Force to its highest event scores of the year on the vault and floor exercise, as well as the seventh-highest team score since 2007.
She shared the weekly MPSF awards with UC Davis' Katy Nogaki (Newcomer of the Week) and Stephanie Stamates (Specialist of the Week). Hance's award marks the second straight week that an Air Force gymnast has claimed one of the three weekly awards, as sophomore Sarah Neumann was named the league's Newcomer of the Week on Feb. 4.
The Falcons are off from competition until Sunday, Feb. 23, when they travel to St. Charles, Mo., for a dual meet with second-year program Lindenwood.
