Air Force Falls to San Jose State
The Air Force women's team dropped a 193.300-187.825 meet to San Jose State on Friday (Feb. 11) in San Jose, Calif. Competing away from the Academy for the first time this year, the Falcons were unable to overcome their Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponents.
Sophomore Sashonna Iwaniec (Ligonier, Pa.) was the team's top finisher, after tying for second on the vault. She also finished fifth on the balance beam with a score of 9.525. Iwaniec and senior Jessa Liegl (Lincoln, Neb.) were the only top-five finishers. Liegl tied for fourth on the floor exercise with a score of 9.675 and fifth on the vault with a 9.525. She was also the team's top scorer on the uneven bars with a sixth-place finish of 9.625. Liegl finished third in the all-around with a combined score of 38.275, while Iwaniec placed fourth with a score of 37.775. The Falcons continue on the road next weekend (Feb. 18), when they travel to Tempe, Ariz., to face Arizona State at 7:00 p.m.
