WOODLAND, Calif. - Air Force junior Jessica Hanner was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation co-Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced this afternoon (Feb. 5). It is the first such honor for the Owasso, Okla., native.
Hanner, who shared the weekly award with UC Davis' Anna Shumaker, shared third-place honors on the balance beam at the Burnsley Invitational, which featured No. 12 Denver, No. 24 NC State and San Jose State, Hanner recorded a score of 9.800 to tie for third, while adding a fifth-place finish in the all-around with a career-best 38.550. The junior, who added a career-high on the floor exercise (9.600), helped the Falcons to their second-highest score of the season and their fourth-best total in seven years.
The Falcons return to action on Friday, Feb. 8, when they travel to Logan, Utah, for a dual meet with Utah State at 7 p.m.
