WOODLAND, Calif. - Air Force junior Jen Larsen was named the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation co-Gymnast of the Week, the league office announced this morning (Jan. 16). It is the first such honor for the St. Paul, Minn., native.
Larsen, who shared the weekly honor with UC Davis' Michelle Ho, posted a career-best 9.800 on the floor exercise to tally the Falcons' best individual placement (fifth) during the season-opening meet at 20th-ranked Denver on Jan. 12. The junior, who also finished second in the all-around (38.250), helped Air Force to its highest season-opening score since head coach Doug Day's arrival in 2007. Larsen also tallied matching 9.650 scores on the vault and uneven bars.
The Falcons return to action on Friday, Jan. 18, when they travel to Seattle Pacific for a MPSF dual meet.
