DAVIS, Calif. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team closed out the regular season with a team score of 192.675 in a loss to Sacramento State (194.925) on Sunday, March 17, in Sacramento, Calif. Participating in its fourth meet in eight days, Air Force claimed six finishes within the top half of the field.
Sophomore Jessica Wallander posted the Falcons top placement of the night, finishing second in the vault with a 9.825. She also paced the squad on the floor exercise, as she placed fourth with a 9.775. Wallander was one of two Falcons to place within the top six on the floor, as junior Katie Hawthorne scored a 9.725 to finish fifth.
Hawthorne, who finished second in the all-around with a combined score of 38.700, also finished among the top half of the field in the uneven bars. Classmate Linnaea Hance finished fourth with a 9.750, while Hawthorne and sophomore Alexandra Stych placed fifth (9.725) and sixth (9.700), respectively. Junior Emily Bucher rounded out the Falcons' event leaders, as she scored a 9.650 to finish seventh on the balance beam.
The Falcons return to action next Saturday (March 23), when they travel to Seattle, Wash., for the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships at 6 p.m. (PST).
