TUCSON, Ariz. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team surpassed the 192-point mark for the second straight road competition this evening (March 16), scoring a 192.175 to finish fourth at the Arizona Quad Meet in Tucson, Ariz.
Arizona, ranked 18th in this week's GymInfo Rankings, won its home quadrangular with a score of 196.525. USAG leader Bridgeport finished second with a 193.525, while Utah State (192.975) and Air Force (192.175) rounded out the competition with respective third- and fourth-place finishes.
Freshman Jessica Wallander collected the Falcons' best individual finish on the night, as she tied for fifth on the vault with a score of 9.775. She recorded that same mark on the floor exercise to pace Air Force with a 10th-place tie.
Sophomore Jessica Hanner and freshman Kim McRobbie tied for the team's best finish on the balance beam, recording matching marks of 9.725 to tie for 10th, while sophomore Katie Hawthorne was the Falcons' top finisher on the uneven bars behind a 14th-place mark of 9.750.
McRobbie, whose score on the beam was a personal best, also finished within the top half of the field on the vault, scoring a career-high 9.625 to tie with sophomore Jen Larsen for 12th. Larsen was also Air Force's top all-arounder, finishing sixth with a 38.025.
Air Force returns to action next weekend, traveling to Davis, Calif., on Saturday, March 24, for the 2012 Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Championships.
