Falcons Fall To Western Michigan

U.S.A.F.A., Colo.- The Air Force women's gymnastics team fell in a dual meet with Western Michigan Wednesday evening in the Cadet Gymnasium's West Gym. The Falcons finished with a team score of 192.275 behind the Broncos' 193.550. Despite the team loss, Air Force placed first on every event. On floor, senior team captain Allison Todd secured the top spot with a 9.925, followed by junior Laura Frank who scored a 9.850. Freshman Lauren Robison finished fifth with a 9.725 behind Western Michigan's Cherisse Marier (9.800) and Christy Sassich (9.775). Todd tied for first on beam with Broncos Sassich and Tristin Thomas (9.850), followed by Falcons sophomore Jessa Liegl in fourth (9.800) and Frank in fifth (9.725). Frank won on bars for Air Force with a 9.875, followed by Western Michigan's Marier (9.800) and Air Force's Liegl (9.750). Thomas took fourth on bars for the Broncos followed by teammate Nikki Kerrick (9.525). Liegl took top honors on vault with a 9.825 for the Falcons. Western Michigan's Nicole Berends finished second (9.800), followed by Becky Lee for the Broncos (9.775) and Air Force's Frank (9.750). Todd tied at fifth for the Falcons with Western Michigan's Kerrick, Ashley Moore and Amanda Surridge 99.725). Air Force was the only team to compete all-around in tonight's meet. Frank finished first with a 39.200, followed by Liegl (38.950), Robison (38.325), Todd (38.150), and junior Becky Lewis (36.950). The Air Force women return Sunday to take on Ball State in a coed meet at 1 p.m. in the Cadet Gymnasium's West Gym. The men's team hosts Stanford.
