USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team surpassed the 191-point mark for the second time in three weeks during a 192.475-191.100 loss to Mountain Pacific Sports Federation opponent Seattle Pacific on Friday, March 2, at the Academy's Cadet West Gym.
The Falcons' scored of 191.100 is their second-highest score of the season and marked the fourth straight week that they have tallied a score better than 190.800.
Air Force dominated the top half of the standings on the uneven bars, claiming four of the top six spots. Sophomore Linnaea Hance scored a 9.775 to finish second, while classmate Katie Hawthorne and senior Samantha Jones tied for fourth with matching marks of 9.725. Hawthorne matched her career high with that score, while Jones posted her highest score of the season. Freshman Jessica Wallander rounded out the Falcons' top-six finishers, as she placed sixth with a mark of 9.625.
Wallander also won the vault, tallying a score of 9.750. She was joined in the top half of the field by freshman Kim McRobbie and sophomore Jen Larsen, who finished fifth (9.575) and sixth (9.550), respectively.
Larsen matched her career-best tally on the balance beam (9.675) to finish second on that event, while Wallander and Hance posted the Falcons' top scores on the floor exercise (9.700) to tie for fourth.
Air Force returns to action on Monday, March 5, when it hosts Western Michigan and 19th-ranked Denver at 6 p.m. at the Academy's Cadet West Gym. The meet will be the Falcons' final home competition of the season.
