SEATTLE, Wash. - Backed by an event title by junior Linnaea Hanceon the uneven bars, the Air Force women's gymnastics team defeated Seattle Pacific by a 190.100-189.425 margin on Friday, Jan. 18, at Brougham Pavilion in Seattle, Wash.
Hance, who also placed second in the all-around with a score of 38.050, tallied a season-best score of 9.775 to win the uneven bars, pacing the Falcons to two of the top three places. Sophomore Alexandra Stychjoined Hance among the top three, scoring a season-best 9.625 to place third.
In addition to her win on the uneven bars, Hance paced Air Force to three of the top-five spots in the vault standings, taking third with a 9.600. Clasmate Katie Hawthorne tallied a 9.550 to take fourth, while freshman Shannen Kellyscored a career-best 9.525 to finish fifth.
Kelly finished second on the balance beam with a career-best 9.700 - an improvement of nearly a half point. Junior Emily Bucher and freshman Ali Ablesalso collected finishes within the top half of the 12-gymnast field. Bucher improved her seasonal score to 9.625 as she placed third, while Ables collected a fourth-place score of 9.600 in her collegiate debut.
The Falcons open their home schedule next Saturday (Jan. 26), when it hosts UC Davis, Missouri and Texas Woman's University in the Air Force Quadrangular at 1 p.m.
