USAF ACADEMY, Colo. - The Air Force women's gymnastics team tallied its highest season-opening score of the Doug Day era (191.025) during a loss to 20th-ranked Denver (196.600) on Saturday, Jan. 12, at the Pioneers' home venue.
With matching fifth-place finishes, junior Jen Larsen and sophomore Jessica Wallander tied for the Falcons' best individual finishes of the night at Hamilton Gymnasium. Larsen scored a career-best 9.800 to take fifth on the floor exercise, while Wallander paced the Falcons on the vault, finishing fifth with a 9.775. Larsen's score was a personal improvement of 0.050.
Junior Linnaea Hance collected Air Force's best finish of the night on the uneven bars, as she scored a 9.725 to place sixth, while classmate Jessica Hanner rounded out the Falcons that finished within the top half of the field with a sixth-place balance beam score of 9.625.
Scoring a 38.250 to finish second, Larsen also paced a trio of Falcons in the four-gymnast all-around.
The Falcons travel to Seattle, Wash., next Friday (Jan. 18) to take on Mountain Pacific Sports Federation foe Seattle Pacific at 7 p.m. (PST).
