    Air Force Duo Earn National Academic Recognition

    Ryann Anderson and Joey Ching earned Scholastic All-America honors for the second straight year.


    Falcons Set to Open 2013 Season at Denver

    Air Force will face the Pioneers at 6 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 12.

    SOPHOMORE | 2014: Competed on the vault once...scored an 8.775 at Texas Woman's University...named to the USAG All-Academic Team...also earned named NACGC/W Scholastic All-America honors.

    FRESHMAN | 2013: Did not compete in any team competitions... named NACGC/W Scholastic All-American.

    HIGH SCHOOL | CLUB TEAM: Punahou School...AP Scholar with Distinction...member of the National Honor Society...National Merit Commended Scholar...earned awards for Excellence in English, Social Studies, and Physical Education...served as an Outdoor Education Counselor, student tour guide trainer and coordinator, student reporter, tutor and teacher's aide for sixth-grade students...Model United Nations member...part-time playground monitor and morning greeter...also served as an administrative assistant to the Punahou Summer School director...competed at the club level for the Kokokahi Gymnastics Team...coached by Bruce Burns and Suzie Gamble...Hawaii state champion on the balance beam (Level 10) in 2012...Hawaii state champion on the floor exercise (Level 9) in 2010...regional qualifier in 2010 (Level 9) and 2012 (Level 10)...served as team captain from 2009-2012...also served as a volunteer coach at the club.

    PERSONAL: Full name is Joey Lynn Ching...daughter of Glenn and Melinda Ching...father is a 1980 graduate of the Air Force Academy...has one older sibling, Casey...majoring in political science and earning a minor in Chinese...future career plans include working in the intelligence field, with hopes of attending graduate school...served as MWR Clerk (spring 2014), Group 1 PEER NCO, Head PEER for squadron, Flight NCO and Element Leader...also served as cadre during the first session of Basic Cadet Training in 2014...received Jump wings in the summer of 2013...named the Outstanding Academy Ambassador...two-time selection to the Superintendent's List for excellence in military, academic and athletic performance...also selected to the Commandant's List twice...named to the Dean's List every semester...member of the Academy Scholars' Program...hobbies include cooking and baking...grandfather, Herbert Ching, also served in the Air Force and retired as a lieutenant colonel after 28 years of service as a personnel officer...favorite event changes all the time, but is currently the floor exercise, because "it is a combination of music, dance and tumbling; which makes me feel powerful and artistic at the same time"...traveled to China over the summer as a part of the Cadet Summer Language Immersion Program...also worked BCT and completed Operation Air Force at Beale AFB, California...member of Cadet Squadron 06.
