Assistant Coach

A former Academy gymnast, Capt. Nelle Barriteau is entering her first season as an assistant coach for the Air Force women's gymnastics team. Prior to returning to the Academy and joining the collegiate coaching ranks, Barriteau coached club gymnastics for three years.

In addition to her duties with the gymnastics team, Barriteau is assigned to the Schedule and Grading Division of the Academy's athletic department and teaches water survival, tennis and volleyball.

Barriteau comes to the Academy after stints at Buckley AFB, Colo., and Pope AFB, N.C., as a personnelist. In 2005, she deployed to Al Udeid AB, Qatar, as an assistant PERSCO team chief.

Originally from Iowa City, Iowa, Barriteau spent the 1998-99 seasons as a member of the Falcons' gymnastics team. She graduated from the Academy in 2001, with a bachelor's degree in Behavioral Science and a minor in French.

In her free time, Barriteau enjoys hiking, skiing, scrapbooking and spending time with her husband, Kristoffer and dogs Mickey and Sam.
