Falcons Set to Open 2013 Season at Denver

Air Force will face the Pioneers at 6 p.m., on Saturday, Jan. 12.

SOPHOMORE | 2014: USAG All-American (first team) on the balance beam after finishing eighth at the USA Gymnastics Collegiate National Championships (9.250)...competed on that apparatus during eight meets...matched career-high with a 9.775 performance at the Eagle Invitational...that score was ranked fourth on the team in 2014...bettered the 9.550 mark during three of five regular season meets.

FRESHMAN | 2013: Competed in four of the first six competitions...scored a career-best 9.775 in vault debut at the Air Force Quadrangular...that was the third-highest score on the team in 2013...recorded a personal-best 9.725 on the balance beam at the Burnsley Invitational...bettered the 9.500 mark in three of four appearances on the beam.

HIGH SCHOOL | CLUB TEAM: Wesleyan High School...member of the National Honor Society, French Honor Society, National Science Honor Society and the National English Honor Society...competed at the club level for Gwinnett Gymnastics Center...coached by Dan Thaxton, Josh Overton and Katie Heenan Dodson...national qualifier in 2009...Georgia state champion on the balance beam...Atlanta Crown champion on the vault, uneven bars, balance beam and all-around...Sand Dollar champion on the balance beam and all-around...regional runner-up on the floor exercise in 2006.

PERSONAL: Full first name is Alexandra, but goes by Ali...daughter of David and Elizabeth Ables...has one older brother, Turner...majoring in biology...future plans include becoming a doctor...served as Element Leader...hobbies include reading and baking...also plays in the orchestra...favorite event is the balance beam, because "it's my best event and the most fun"...traveled to France over the summer as a part of the Cadet Summer Language Immersion Program...also completed Operation Air Force at Fairchild AFB, Wash., and worked as an Element Leader during the second session of Basic Cadet Training...member of Cadet Squadron 23.
