The Air Force women's basketball team heads to Jacksonville, Fla., this weekend, Dec. 20-21, as it closes out its non-conference schedule at the Hampton Inn Oceanfront Holiday Classic, hosted by North Florida. The Falcons will face the host Ospreys on Friday at 3:30 p.m. (ET), while taking on Eastern Illinois on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

LAST TIME OUT...
Despite shooting over 40 percent from the field for just the third time this season, the Falcons dropped an 84-56 contest to Omaha on Dec. 11.
Senior Camille Thompson and sophomore Missy Byrd led the way for Air Force against the Mavericks, tallying 12 points each, while freshman Ashton Williams tallied the first double-digit scoring output of her career, finishing with 10 points.
SCOUTING THE FALCONS...
Air Force enters this weekend with a 1-7 overall record on the season after its loss to Omaha last week. Senior Cherae Medina leads the Falcons with 11.7 points, 4.5 assists and 4.3 rebounds per game. Junior Jimi Blagowsky also averages in double figures scoring with 12.3 points per game, while senior Camille Thompson adds 9.4 points per contest.
SCOUTING THE OSPREYS...
North Florida enters this weekend's tournament with a 2-7 overall mark, including a 2-1 record at home. The Ospreys are coming off a 61-42 road loss to 25th-ranked Florida State.
Destinee Smith is the lone Osprey averaging in double figures scoring, with 11.6 points per game, while Paulina Zaveckaite is the leading rebounder for North Florida, with 7.8 boards per contest.
SCOUTING THE PANTHERS...
Eastern Illinois currently holds a 3-6 overall record on the season and will face Georgia Southern in the opening game of this weekend's tournament. The Panthers are coming off a 66-60 loss to Southern Illinois.
Sabina Oroszova leads Eastern Illinois with 17.4 points and a team-best 8.0 rebounds per contest, while Katlyn Payne and Jordyne Crunk add 13.7 and 12.0 points per game, respectively. Crunk also averages a team-leading 4.0 assists per contest.
In both of Air Force's games at this weekend's Hampton Inn Oceanfront Holiday Classic, the Falcons will be facing brand-new opponents, as Air Force has never played either North Florida or Eastern Illinois. There are four first-time opponents on the Falcons' schedule this year--Air Force also played North Carolina and SIUE for the first-time ever earlier this season.
MOUNTAIN WEST RANKINGS...
Through games of Dec. 8, Air Force ranks second in the Mountain West in three-point field goal percentage defense (.266).
Individually, senior Cherae Medina ranks tied for fourth in the Mountain West in assists per game (4.5), tied for sixth in three-point field goals made per game (2.0), eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.4) and steals per game (1.8) and tied for ninth in three-point field goal percentage (.364). Meanwhile, classmate Camille Thompson ranks eighth in the league in free throw percentage (.818).
KNOCKING DOWN THE FREE THROWS...
While Air Force is shooting just over 61 percent from the foul line this season, the Falcons had a solid performance at the charity stripe versus Omaha, connecting on 12-of-16 free throws (.750). Leading the way was sophomore Missy Byrd, who was a perfect 4-of-4 from the line after making just 4-of-11 free throws through Air Force's first seven games of the season.
ASHTON HITS DOUBLE DIGITS...
Freshman Ashton Williams became the first Air Force newcomer to reach double digits in scoring this season with her 10 points in the Falcons' game at Omaha. Williams currently ranks second among the Falcons' freshman class in scoring, averaging 4.6 points per contest.
With their non-conference schedule complete, the Falcons will open up Mountain West play on Wednesday, Jan. 1, when they head to Logan, Utah, to face league newcomer Utah State.
