Air Force Visits Omaha for Non-Conference Match-up

    The Air Force women's basketball team hits the road this week for a non-conference match-up versus Omaha on Wednesday, Dec. 11. The game is slated to tip off at 7:00 p.m. (CT) at Sapp Fieldhouse.

    Series History: Series tied, 2-2
    Last Meeting: The last meeting between Air Force and Omaha came on Nov. 29, 1991, when the Mavericks earned an 81-63 neutral-site victory over the Falcons.

    The Falcons split a pair of games at the Air Force Classic this past weekend, defeating North Dakota State, 82-63, while falling to SIUE, 76-55.

    Junior Jimi Blagowsky and senior Camille Thompson led the way for Air Force in the Falcons' win over the Bison, registering a career-best 26 and 23 points, respectively. Meanwhile, senior Cherae Medina was Air Force's leading scorer versus SIUE, tallying a season-high 19 points.

    Air Force enters Wednesday's game with a 1-5 overall record on the season after splitting a pair of contests at the Air Force Classic.

    Junior Jimi Blagowsky leads the Falcons in scoring with 12.3 points per contest, while senior Cherae Medina adds 11.7 points and a team-high 4.5 assists per game. Medina is also Air Force's leading rebounder with 4.3 boards per game.

    Omaha currently holds a 3-5 overall record on the season, including a 3-0 mark at home. The Mavericks are coming off a 78-73 road loss to Northern Colorado.

    Ericka House lead the Mavs with 17.1 points per contest, while Felicia Anderson adds 10.8 points per contest. In addition, Mikaela Shaw averages 9.4 points and a team-leading 8.1 rebounds per game for Omaha.

    Through games of Dec. 8, Air Force ranks third in the Mountain West in three-point field goal percentage defense (.274).

    Individually, senior Cherae Medina ranks third in the Mountain West in assists per game (4.5), tied for fifth in three-point field goals made per game (2.0), eighth in assist/turnover ratio (1.4) and 10th in steals per game (1.8).

    Averaging 15.0 points, 6.0 rebounds and 5.5 assists for the weekend, senior captain Cherae Medina was named to the Air Force Classic all-tournament team. Medina was the Falcons' leading scorer against SIUE, tallying a season-high 19 points, including a career-best five three-pointers.

    Joining Medina on the all-tournament team were Air Force Classic tournament MVP Fallon Lewis of Wyoming, North Dakota State's Holly Johnson, SIUE's Jessie Wendt and Wyoming's Kayla Woodward.

Blagowsky recorded a career-high 26 points and nine rebounds, while Thompson set new personal-best marks with 23 points and six assists. It marked the first time that two Falcons have scored over 20 points in the same game since March 2011, when Dymond James and Alicia Leipprandt scored 26 and 24 points, respectively, against New Mexico.

    Air Force's 19-point win over North Dakota State on Friday marked its largest margin of victory since December 2010, when the Falcons defeated Texas State, 61-41.

    The Falcons grabbed a season-high 45 rebounds in their win over North Dakota State on Friday; it marked the first time this season that Air Force has outrebounded its opponent.

    After taking a break for final exams, the Falcons head to Jacksonville, Fla., Dec. 20-21, for the Hampton Inn Oceanfront Holiday Classic, hosted by North Florida. Air Force will take on the host Ospreys on the first day of action, while wrapping up the weekend versus Eastern Illinois.
