Among the top returners for the Falcons this season are senior Cherae Medina and sophomore Missy Byrd. Medina, Air Force's top returning scorer from 2012-13, dished out a team-best 101 assists last season, while starting 24 games for the Falcons.

Meanwhile, Byrd, who started 10 games, is the leading returning rebounder, averaging 3.5 boards per game last season while also shooting over 45 percent from the field. Also seeing time in the starting lineup last season were senior Camille Thompson and junior Jimi Blagowsky, who each started six games, while senior Michelle Ivey started one game.

Western State Colorado returns eight letterwinners from last year's team which compiled an 5-21 overall record and 5-17 mark in the RMAC, including leading scorers Jade McIntosh (12.8 ppg) and Desiree Smith (10.8 ppg).

The Mountaineers will open their preseason slate on Saturday, as they visit Southern Utah for an exhibition before facing the Falcons on Monday.

In the preseason conference poll released Oct. 15, Air Force was chosen by the coaches and select media to finish 11th in the Mountain West standings this year. Defending tournament champion Fresno State was tabbed as the preseason favorite, receiving 17 first-place votes. Wyoming, picked to finish second, collected four first-place votes, followed by San Diego State with two first-place votes. The remaining two first-place votes went to UNLV, which was voted to finish fifth in the league behind New Mexico.

Wyoming junior Kayla Woodward was tabbed the preseason Player of the Year, while San Diego State's Chloe Johnson and Cierra Warren were named the preseason Freshman of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, respectively.

The Falcons officially open the season on Friday, Nov. 8, when they travel to Chapel Hill, N.C., to face 11th-ranked North Carolina. The game is slated to begin at 4:30 p.m. (ET) at Carmichael Arena.
