Falcons Tie Record with Four All-Academic Honorees

Air Force women’s basketball landed four cadet-athletes on the spring 2017 Academic All-Mountain West team, the conference announced. The four academic all-conference honorees ties last year’s team for the most ever by the program in the MW era.

Juniors Dee Bennett and Cortney Porter, senior Sarah Falvey and freshman Mariah Forde made the team. Bennett earned her third-career academic honor, while Falvey earned her second with AF WBB and third overall (earned one as a freshman with soccer team).

Bennett, a biology major, has a 3.18 grade-point average and Porter, a Behavioral Sciences major, has a 3.08 GPA. Falvey, a biology major, had a 3.57 GPA and Forde, a biology major, had 3.12 GPA.

A total of 986 student-athletes were named to the spring 2017 Academic All-Mountain West team. Spring sports include baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, men’s and golf, softball, women’s swimming and diving, men’s and women’s tennis and men’s and women’s indoor and outdoor track and field.

To be eligible for selection, student-athletes must have completed at least one academic term at the member institution while maintaining a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or better, and be a starter or significant contributor on their athletic team. Leeway is granted due to injuries.
