Regular season schedule highlights include a road contest against top-ranked Oregon, who ranked fifth in the nation according to the USA TODAY/WBCA Coaches poll, July 9. The Falcons will also take on Minnesota, who finished fifth in the Big 10 Conference in 2018, Dec. 2, in Minneapolis. No. 2-seed Oregon defeated No. 10-seed Minnesota in the second round of the 2018 NCAA Championship Tournament. Oregon made it to the quarter-finals where they fell to 2018 national champions, Notre Dame. Air Force will also host 2018 NCAA tournament qualifiers, Northern Colorado, Nov. 28.
The Falcons open the Mountain West slate with the New Year against New Mexico, Jan. 2, in Albuquerque. For the sixth consecutive year, the conference will use a scheduling format that allows each institution to play nine home games and nine road games. The regular season home finale will be played against 2018 MW Champions, Boise State, March 7.
“We always have three main goals when we schedule the non-conference slate for each year,” said head coach Chris Gobrecht. “1) To challenge ourselves against some of the best women’s basketball teams in the nation, 2) to travel to the hometowns of our team members, 3) to prepare ourselves for the rigorous Mountain West Conference. The 2018-19 schedule checks off all the boxes and we can’t wait to get going!”
