Air Force Returns Home to Face Wyoming

    The Air Force women’s basketball team returns home to host Wyoming on Wednesday, Feb. 23. The game is scheduled to start at 7:00 p.m. in Clune Arena.

    The Falcons struggled offensively as they dropped a 68-50 road decision to San Diego State Saturday afternoon in Viejas Arena. Air Force connected on 18-of-22 free throws in the contest, but shot just 33.3 percent from the field.

     

    Sophomore Alicia Leipprandt led the Falcons with a season-high 16 points, while Kelsey Berger also scored in double figures with 12 points.

     

     

    Scouting the Falcons...

    Air Force currently holds an 8-17 overall record and 3-9 ledger in the Mountain West Conference after its loss to San Diego State on Saturday afternoon.

     

    Senior Raimee Beck is the Falcons’ leading scorer with 11.6 points per game, while sophomore Dymond James adds 10.8 points per game and a team-best 7.1 rebounds per contest. James is also averaging a team-leading 12.0 points in MWC action.

     

     

    Scouting the Cowgirls...

    Wyoming enters this week’s game with a 19-6 overall record and 9-3 ledger in the MWC. The Cowgirls, who had a bye on Saturday, defeated Utah, 59-50, last Wednesday.

    Aubrey Vandiver leads the Cowgirls with 18.2 points and 9.1 rebounds per contest, while Hillary Carlson adds 17.0 points and 7.2 rebounds per game.

The Cowgirls also rank second in scoring defense (56.3), scoring margin (+9.6), rebounding margin (+5.3), blocked shots (4.6), assists (16.9) and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2), and are third in scoring offense (65.9) and offensive rebounding percentage (.336).

    LAst Time Against the Cowgirls...

    Air Force dropped a 96-54 decision to Wyoming on Jan. 22 in Laramie.

     

    After an early 15-10 lead by the Falcons, the Cowgirls went on a 19-0 run to pull away, and never looked back.

     

    Raimee Beck and Dymond James led the Falcons with 11 points each, while freshman Michelle Ivey tallied seven points and a team-high five rebounds in her collegiate debut.

     

     

    Alicia Leads the Way...

    Sophomore Alicia Leipprandt was the Falcons’ leading scorer against San Diego State on Saturday, recording a season-high 16 points. Leipprandt tallied six of her points at the charity stripe, setting a season high for made free throws.

     

     

    Dymond Dishes out the Assists...

    In addition to leading Air Force with five rebounds gainst San Diego State on Saturday, sophomore Dymond James also led the Falcons in assists. James finished the game with a career-best four assists, accounting for a third of Air Force’s assist total.

     

     

    Single-Season Leaders...

    Averaging 7.1 rebounds per contest, sophomore Dymond James now has 177 boards on the season. That total ranks as the sixth-best single-season mark in the Academy’s Division I history.

     

    In addition, Megan Muniz’s 95 assists are the seventh-highest single-season total at the Division I level, while Raimee Beck ranks seventh on the list in three-pointers made (44) and eighth in three-point field goal attempts (134).

    The Falcons are back on the road this weekend, Feb. 26, as they visit in-state rival Colorado State in a 2:00 p.m. contest.
