Air Force Set to Host Wyoming in Mountain West Action

    The Air Force women's basketball team return to action this Saturday, Jan. 26, as it hosts Wyoming in a Mountain West showdown. The game is slated to begin at 2:00 p.m. in Clune Arena.

    LAST TIME OUT...
    Air Force fell just short of its first road win of the season on Saturday, dropping a 66-65 contest to Boise State. Junior Cherae Medina scored a career-high 23 points, including a three-pointer with 0.1 seconds remaining, while senior Alicia Leipprandt added 13 points for the Falcons.

    SCOUTING THE FALCONS...
    Air Force enters Saturday's game with a 2-15 overall record and 1-3 mark in the Mountain West, following its narrow road loss to Boise State last weekend.

    Senior Alicia Leipprandt is the Falcons' leading scorer with 11.9 points per contest, while classmate Dymond James is the team's next best scorer with 9.2 ppg. Senior Katie Hilbig is Air Force's leading rebounder with 7.3 boards per game, followed closely by James with 7.2 rebounds per contest. Meanwhile, junior Cherae Medina leads the Falcons with 3.2 assists per game.

    SCOUTING THE COWGIRLS...
    Wyoming currently holds a 14-4 overall record and 3-2 mark in the Mountain West. The Cowgirls are coming off a 76-54 home victory against UNLV on Wednesday evening.

    Four different players average in double-figures scoring for the Cowgirls, led by senior Chaundra Sewell with 14.8 points and a league-leading 9.7 rebounds per contest. Kayla Woodward adds 14.2 points per game, Kaitlyn Mileto averages 11.2 points per contest and Ashley Sickles averages 11.7 points per game.

    CHERAE, THE SCORING LEADER...
    Junior Cherae Medina led the Falcons against Boise State last weekend, scoring a career-high 23 points, including a career-best 10 made field goals, the most for an Air Force player this season.

    Through the first four games of the conference season, Medina is leading the Falcons in scoring, averaging 13.3 points per contest in Mountain West play.

    REBOUNDING PROWESS...
    Air Force has been dominant on the boards in conference play, averaging a league-leading 49.5 rebounds per contest in their four Mountain West games. The Falcons grabbed a season-high 60 rebounds in their win over UNLV on Jan. 12.

    Individually, seniors Dymond James and Katie Hilbig are leading the Mountain West in rebounding (conference games only), ranking first and second with 9.8 and 9.5 rebounds per contest, respectively. Hilbig also leads the league in offensive rebounds in conference play (4.5 pg), while James ranks first in defensive rebounds per game (7.5).

    NEXT UP...
    The Falcons are on the road next week, Jan. 30, when they visit Mountain West newcomer Fresno State in a 7:00 p.m. (PT) contest.
