    The Air Force women's basketball team has a rough slate of games this weekend. They will head to the Beehive State to take on Utah (Thurs, Jan. 22, 7 p.m.), folllowed by BYU (Sat, Jan. 24, 4 p.m.). The Falcons are looking for their first ever victories over the two teams.

    SERIES HISTORY
    The Falcons are winless against the Utes in 13 games. Last year, the Falcons were 0-3 against Utah, scoring an average of just over 42 points in the three losses.

    SCOUTING THE FALCONS
    After a three-game winning streak, the Falcons have lost their last four games - most recently a disappointing 22-point loss to New Mexico to open the conference season. The Falcons are still struggling from the free throw line, shooting just 61.3 percent, last in the league. They are shooting 38.8 percent from the floor (5th). Freshman Letricia Castillo leads the team and is fifth in the league with 13.6 ppg. Shawna Neff is second on the team in scoring with a 11.8 ppg average and first in rebounding with 6.1 rpg. Amoy Jackson is averaging 10.4 ppg and 5.8 rpg.

    SCOUTING THE UTES
    The Utes are off to a strong start, opening 12-4 overall. In their two conference games, they defeated Wyoming (57-39) and Colorado State (55-51). The Utes are second in the league in scoring defense, giving up just 55.2 points per game. They have two players in double figures in scoring. Kim Smith leads the team and is third in the league with a 15.7 ppg average. Shona Thorburn is averaging 12.9 points per game. Smith ranks first on her team and fifth in the league with 7.2 rebounds per game.

    CONFERENCE RECORD
    Under McInelly, the Falcons have just one conference victory - a one-point win last season over UNLV. In four years in the Mountain West, the Falcons are just 2-60, including postseason games. They are currently riding a 12-game conference losing streak, dating back to last year.

    LOOKING AHEAD
    The Falcons will face BYU on Saturday, Jan. 24th. The Falcons are 0-10 all-time against the Cougars. Last year they lost by 39 points to BYU in Provo and 41 points at home. The Cougars averaged 92.5 points in the two wins, including a 96-point output at Clune Arena. It was the most points surrended by the Falcons to any Mountain West team.

    WINNINGEST D-I COACH
    With the team's win over Northern Colorado, Ardie McInelly became the Falcons' winningest coach at the Division I level. In her two-plus seasons, she has 13 total wins.

    THE BEEHIVE STATE:
    The Falcons have have only won one game against a team from the dreaded state of Utah, going a combined 1-27. They are 0-13 against Utah and 0-10 against BYU. They are 0-2 against Southern Utah. Their only win was at home against Weber State in 1997.
