The Air Force women's basketball team opened up its conference schedule with a loss, as the Falcons fell to New Mexico 68-44. The Falcons were out-rebounded by the Lobos 24-45 in the defeat.

The Falcons kept the game close early. With just over six minutes remaining in the half, Morgan Bennett hit a lay up to pull Air Force to within three points of the lead. It was a close as the team would get however, as New Mexico would close out the half on a 15-3 run.

The Falcons finished the game with a dismal .275 shooting percentage from the field. The team hit just 14 of 51 attempts, including six of 24 from the three-point arc. The team committed just 11 turnovers and grabbed 13 steals in the game, but poor shooting and rebounding cost the Falcons a chance for victory.

The Falcons could not find a solution for Jordan Adams, who scored 14 second-half points in the paint for the Lobos. She finished the game with 21 points to lead all scorers. Miranda Sanchez added 17 points for New Mexico. Morgan Bennett led the Falcons in scoring with 10 points, all of which came in the first half.

The loss drops the Falcons' record to 3-11 overall and 0-1 in the Mountain West. They will host UNLV on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m., followed by San Diego State on Jan. 20 at 2 p.m. in two critical conference games. The Falcons are 1-15 in Mountain West games and 2-58 in conference action since moving to Division I.
