WICHITA, Kan. - The Air Force women's basketball team dropped a 61-37 contest to Wichita State Sunday afternoon at Charles Koch Arena.
Senior Camille Thompson (McDonough, Ga.) was the lone Falcon to finish in double figures scoring, tallying 12 points, while Kelly Lujan (Fr., Reno, Nev.) added eight points and Sarah Fotsch (Fr., Brookfield, Wis.) grabbed a team-leading eight rebounds.
While Air Force (0-5) outshot Wichita State in the first half, the Shockers held a 25-15 lead at the intermission, using their advantage at the free throw line and on the boards. After the break, Wichita State heated up offensively, shooting 50 percent from the field to pull away, leading by as many as 28 in the final minute.
Wichita State (4-2) outrebounded Air Force, 42-26, for the game, and connected on 19 free throws, including 11 in the opening half. The Shockers also scored 32 points off of the Falcons' 25 turnovers.
The Falcons return home next weekend, Dec. 6-7, as they host the annual Air Force Classic, featuring North Dakota State, SIUE and Wyoming.
