Air Force Drops Road Game to Weber State

    OGDEN, Utah - Returning to action after a 10-day break, the Air Force women's basketball team fell to Weber State, 81-69, Tuesday evening at the Dee Events Center.

    Junior Jimi Blagowsky (Edmond, Okla.) scored a team-leading 15 points for the Falcons, including 13 in the first half, while Cherae Medina (Sr., Denver, Colo.) and Missy Byrd (So., Decatur, Ga.) added 13 points each.

    The Falcons (0-4) trailed as many as seven in the first half, with Weber State holding a 31-24 advantage with 4:55 remaining in the period. However, Air Force forced eight Weber State turnovers in the final five minutes of the half and put together a 12-2 run to go into the intermission with a 36-33 lead.

    After the break, the Wildcats made a run of their own, outscoring the Falcons 12-3 over the first four minutes to take the lead. Air Force never got closer than three points the rest of the way, as Weber State used its advantage at the foul line to extend its advantage to double digits.

    The Wildcats made 20-of-30 free throws in the contest, including 15-of-22 in the second half alone. Weber State also had the advantage on the boards, outrebounding Air Force 40-33. Meanwhile, the Falcons registered 23 assists on their 27 field goals, including six helpers each from Blagowsky and Medina.

    Weber State (3-2) had five players score in double figures, led by Desiree Ramos with 20 points and Jalen Carpenter, who finished with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

    The Falcons are back in action this Sunday, Dec. 1, when they visit Wichita State for a non-conference match-up.
