USAFA, Colo. - Senior Alicia Leipprandt (Ubly, Mich.) was the only Falcon to score in double figures as the Air Force women's basketball team dropped a 60-36 contest to Navy Monday evening in Clune Arena.
Leipprandt scored 10 points to lead the Falcons, while Navy's Jade Geif registered 15 points and nine rebounds to pace the Midshipmen.
Air Force (0-5) held an early 6-3 advantage over Navy to start the game before the Mids went on a 19-3 run over the next 10 minutes to take control of the contest. The Falcons trailed by as many as 18 points in the opening half before going into the intermission with a 32-19 deficit.
After the break, Navy (4-3) continued to increase its margin, outrebounding the Falcons and taking advantage of Air Force turnovers. The Mids also knocked down seven three-pointers in the contest, while limiting the Falcons to a season-low 11 free throw attempts.
Air Force received more than half of its points from its bench, led by sophomore guard Jimi Blagowsky (Edmond, Okla.), who tallied four points and a team-best three assists.
The Falcons are back in action this weekend, Nov. 30-Dec. 1, as they host the annual Air Force Classic. The Falcons take on Kansas City in their first game of the tournament, scheduled to begin Friday at 4:00 p.m., while facing San Diego Saturday at 4:30 p.m.
