EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Air Force women’s basketball dropped a 76-40 contest at SIUE (1-1) Friday night at the Vadalabene Center. Senior Cortney Porter led the Falcons with 13 points.
A pair of big runs by SIUE early on had Air Force fighting an uphill battle. The Cougars opened the game with a 15-0 run. A 10-0 run in the second quarter had SIUE up 27-9 with 4:20 to play in the second.
Donshel Beck led four SIUE scorers in double-figures with 13 points and 15 rebounds. The Cougars got to the free throw line 39 times, making 26.
Porter was 6-of-10 from the field and also led the team with three assists. Senior Erika Chapman scored six points, grabbed five rebounds, blocked two shots and had three steals. Senior Dee Bennett and freshman Alexis Springfield added five points each.
Freshmen Kennedy Beale and Michaela McFalls made their collegiate debuts for the Falcons. Beale logged three minutes and McFalls scored two points in four minutes in reserve.
The Falcons forced 10 steals on the night and blocked four shots.
Air Force returns to action Sunday, Nov. 19 at FIU.
